Verification of information is a rather complicated process, and even adults do not always cope with it. There are several formal signs that you have landed on a “yellow” site that should not be trusted unconditionally. These are flashy headlines, an abundance of advertising, or if the reader who clicks on the news is thrown somewhere further.
To check the information that you received on the Internet, follow these guidelines:
look for two or three more sources, preferably in other languages too;
find the original source and ask yourself the question: “Can you trust him?”;
check if there are other opinions and facts on the web that refute or confirm what was said.
If you need to find out some fact or find out what an incomprehensible term means, you can turn to Wikipedia. It is rare to find quite frank nonsense there, but you should not blindly trust an open digital encyclopedia: even there are errors in it.
